Surah Al-Mulk (The Sovereignty), also called Tabarak, is the 67th surah of the Quran and the first surah of Juz 29. It has 30 verses and reminds us that all power and control belong to Allah alone.
Why Is It So Special?
The Prophet ? said: "There is a surah in the Quran of thirty verses which interceded for a man until he was forgiven. It is: Tabarakal-ladhi biyadihil-mulk." (Tirmidhi, 2891; Abu Dawud, 1400 graded hasan).
It is also reported that the Prophet ? would not sleep until he had recited Surah As-Sajdah and Surah Al-Mulk (Tirmidhi, 2892).
Main Lessons of the Surah
- Life is a test: Allah created death and life to see who is best in deeds (67:2).
- Look at the sky: Allah's creation is perfect, without any flaw (67:34).
- Allah knows everything: whether we speak secretly or openly, He knows what is in our hearts (67:13).
- Every blessing is from Allah: our hearing, sight, provision and even the water we drink (67:23, 67:30).

- Repeat in small parts: say each verse 10 times while looking, then 10 times without looking.
- Connect: join today's verses with yesterday's before moving on.
- Revise at night: recite everything you know before sleeping the Sunnah time for this surah.
